Hi, Roberta here, I am the Project Coordinator for the Employment Service.

If you have a minute I would love to tell you about our Employers in Action programme. 

Employers in Action hopes to create a dialogue that improves inclusivity in the workplace. Action on Disability believes that everyone has the right to contribute to society through employment. That the promotion of diversity creates a free and happy citizenship. But too often, even employers with the best of intentions, don’t know where to start. That’s where we come in, we work with employers to broaden their recruitment processes and identify essential practices to welcome more disabled people in the workforce.

We have worked with a range of employers who have gone on to demonstrate that you can recruit and retain disabled staff effectively. Progress has been steady, but we know that there is much more that can be done. 

With Employers in Action we hope to create a coalition. A coalition of businesses dedicated to a working environment that finds place for all its members. It is necessary that companies have systems in place that facilitate the employment of disabled people.
