Action on Disability are saddened to inform you that last weekend our dear colleague and friend, Tom Kenny, passed away.

Over the last 15 years Tom supported and advocated on behalf of many local disabled people. We estimate that he helped more than 4,000 people, securing for them a total of £25 million in benefits. He won over 750 tribunal cases and a High Court judicial dispute. As a result of the High Court case, he indirectly helped hundreds of thousands of disabled people up and down the country to obtain the support they needed.

The news of Tom’s passing has come as a great shock to his colleagues and friends and no doubt will be very sad news for the local disabled community, whom he served so well. Action on Disability will provide everyone with an opportunity to reflect and remember Tom in due course and we will keep you informed.

Everyone at Action on Disability would like to extend our warmest thoughts and condolences to Tom’s partner, Gill, and to all of his family and friends both here in London and in Ireland.

Rest in Peace, Tom
